Pebbles, Peanut & Lily (Sponsor Us!)

Pebbles, Peanut & Lily were surrendered to the Rescue several months ago from a family who had “lost interest”. Despite everything they have been through, they are the sweetest, most gentle rats you will ever meet. Dainty older ladies with a few eccentricities is the perfect way to describe them.

Unfortunately, they arrived with several ailments. Some of them grossly underplayed and others, the previous owners just seemed completely oblivious. Where to even start?

Pebbles: arrived with a skin infection, mites and a tumor on her leg that was described to us as a “bump”. When the vet removed the “bump” it weighed in at over 220 grams! Pebbles is now tumor free, and her skin infection is almost completely cleared up.

Two consultations: $120 each = total of $240
Tumor removal: $1090
Antibiotics for skin infection: $37 per month
Parasite treatment: $37 per treatment

Peanut: arrived barely eating, weighing less then 200g and an extremely severe respiratory infection. In fact we were not sure she was going to make it.

Total veterinary costs so far:
Consultation: $120
Azithromax: $50 per month
Doxycycline: $37 per month
Prednisone (for maintenance) $60 per month
Parasite treatment: $37 per treatment

Lily: this lady arrived as what we believed to be the only healthy one of the bunch! Unfortunately it later turned out she also had parasites and… the same skin infection as Pebbles.

Consultation: $120
Chloropalm (was not effective and caused her to stop eating so we stopped after 2 days): $70
Parasite treatment: $37 per treatment
Antibiotics for skin infection: $37 per month
