These two senior boys are estimated to be over a year old. It is unfortunately difficult to tell exactly how old they are, as their previous owner wasn’t sure, and they arrived in very rough shape. Their previous owner had unfortunately lost their home and was keeping them in a carrier in their car for quite a while before we were able to take them in.
Gandalf arrived with a respiratory infection and both had scabs from mites and fighting. Luckily, with a much better environment, ample room, good food and proper antibiotics and parasite treatments, they are both now clean, healthy and happy. Neither has any lingering health problems, aside from an irritated eye that is common to rats with curly coats.
Personality-wise, you could not ask for a sweeter pair. They are calm, extremely bonded to each other and very easygoing. They love their fruits and veggies and healthy human foods and are not super active or destructive. They are not big chewers or diggers; rather they are quite the homebodies, preferring to cuddle together in their igloo. Merlin is the more outgoing of the two and Gandalf loves to sit still to receive back scratches. Both are extremely cuddly and gentle when being held.
