Meeko and Fleek were transferred to us from the SPCA Outaouais.
These boys were abandoned at the SPCA in a cardboard box when they were only about a month old. Now, they are 5 months old and flourishing under the love of their foster mom. They are very good shoulder-riders, and while both are still a tad nervous about being picked up, they don’t put up much of a fight. Once they are out and about, they love climbing up on you, and checking in to see what the human is doing.
These bonded boys are looking for a home that will be calm, and willing to continue working with them to give them the second chance at life all rats deserve. With just a little attention and love, they will continue to flourish into happy confidence rats!
To inquire about Meeko and Fleek, please fill out our adoption application.

Meet George, Franklin & Lucas (left to right), three babies who were lucky to be saved and to meet each other.
Lucas was born when a pet store sold his pregnant young mother as a pet. Since she was a baby herself, she only gave birth to 3 little ones and he was the only boy. The girl who purchased his mother decided she could not keep him and so brought him to the Rescue. Franklin and Lucas were going to become snake food, but after a series of fortunate and not-so-fortunate events, they ended up at the Rat Rescue. Since these 3 boys were nearly identical in size and age, they were introduced to each other and have been inseparable ever since.
George and Franklin are definitely slightly more shy and tend to freeze on the spot if anything scares or startles them. They need someone who will continue to be gentle with them and to properly socialize these two babies over time. Once accustomed to their surroundings, they are just as crazy and bouncy as other babies. Both these boys are still test nibbling fingers as they clearly haven’t had much exposure to handling or people in general.
Lucas on the other hand is a tiny bouncy ball. He will chase his adoptive brothers and entice them to play with him. Lucas is daring, curious, and you can just tell he will grow up to be a troublemaker.
These 3 bonded boys are looking for a home where they will have plenty of room to grow and learn. They would prefer a home without young children as they are too small and delicate to be handled roughly. To inquire about adopting these boys, please fill out our adoption application.
Meet Toby & Ben. Probably the most adorable, active, puppy-like rats you will ever meet. When Toby and Ben are excited to see people they will drop everything and immediately run to the door. They are great for being picked up or held and are free to run on the ground because they come immediately when called.
Toby (black and white hooded) is more eager to please, whereas Ben is a tiny bit more independent and will sometimes play hard-to-get.
Both boys are about 4-5 months old and are looking for a home where they will get at least 1 hour of free-range time every day. They need a large cage with lots of stimulation to keep them from getting bored and destructive.
Do you think you have the room in your home and heart for these lovely boys? If so, please take the time to fill out our adoption application.

Meet Pipper and Charlie. These two sweethearts didn’t get much love or attention in their previous home where it seems like they were rarely handled. Pipper (agouti) arrived with a pea-sized abscess on her throat which has now been resolved and 100% healed. She is definitely the slightly more nervous of the two girls. Charlie is slightly more outgoing, and much more easily coaxed out with food and gentle words.
Both girls still have a ways to go and are looking for a caring, understanding home where their new family will patiently continue to help them gain confidence.
If you think these girls could be the perfect fit for you and your family, please fill out our Adoption Application. Thank you!

These 3 boys are a father/son trio, Albus being the big bossy dad, while his sons, Sirius and Remus, are much more easy going and carefree.

These 3 carefree baby girls are looking for that perfect home and human family. All three are extremely friendly and outgoing. Olympe was originally purchased from a pet store, then surrendered by her previous human.
These girls must be adopted together!

Meet Ebony and Sammy!
This silly pair of sisters are outgoing, friendly and eager to hang out with their humans. They were surrendered as newborns by a hoarder in Valleyfield and have grown up at the rescue. Ebony and Sammy were born on April 7, 2015, making them just over 7 months old as of November 18, 2015.
They are always eager for out-times and love using humans as a jungle gym to climb onto and give kisses. Sammy (the hairless girl), is easy to handle but loves to explore her surroundings while you dispense treats to her. Ebony doesn’t enjoy being handled as much but loves the treats just as much!

These two brothers not only look similar, but have the same outgoing, friendly, lovable personality. They absolutely LOVE to give kisses and like nothing more than hanging out with their humans.
At 1 year old, they are healthy and still incredibly active. Jared is all black, while Monty has a neat white belly that begs to be tickled.
Jared & Monty must go to a home as a pair, but they can also be adopted with their foster brothers, Ghost & Buster.

Orion, Prancer and Dancer are a trio of adventurous and brave brothers looking for a loving home together. All three boys rush to the door of the cage when you walk by and can’t wait to come out to play. They are part of a group of 21 rats rescued on Christmas Eve 2014. Orion is definitely the most confident and out-going of this band of brothers, while Prancer is the most reserved and Dancer fits right in the middle!
It is adorable to watch these 3 boys cuddle and love each other. How could you not want these boys in your life?

These girls are approximately a year old and were originally surrendered to the Outaouais/Gatineau SPCA. Since we often work with our local shelters, we had these two transferred to us so that we could find them forever homes!
Nestle and Ginny are very friendly and curious. They love to run all over their foster mom during out times and give her lots of attention. They will come right to the door of their cage to see you and ask to be let out to play. Although they are very carefree and adventurous, they are still a bit weary of being picked up as they were likely not handled much. This however can quickly change with a bit of patience and treats!

These brave little boys are estimated to be about 3.5 months old as of April 20, 2015.
Fred & George are two nearly identically, and totally inseparable brothers. They have lived every moment of their young lives so far, together, and we would like to make sure that it stays that way. The best way to tell these boys apart is to look at their white tummy markings. Similar, but one definitely has a little more white (we just aren’t sure which yet!).
Both boys are super outgoing and always following you around with their faces sticking through the bars. They are looking for a loving home who will give them lots of attention, love and time outside of their cage to explore and discover new things.

These brave little boys are estimated to be about 3.5 months old as of April 20, 2015.
Harry is a black self with a big healing gash on his shoulder. He’s quite the trooper, and despite his deplorable beginnings, is happy to march right out into anyone’s hand! His brother Ronald is just as outgoing.
These two lucky boys are unfazed by the sudden change in their life and has accepted their new freedom with gusto! They are looking for a forever home that will allow them to climb, explore and grow into big happy boys.
Can you give them the love and attention they need to become strapping young rat-men?

These gorgeous dumbo blond boys are brothers who are looking for a perfect home where their similarities will be loved and their subtle differences with be celebrated.
Nuki is the most outgoing and independent of the three. He takes on the role of the alpha and is always protecting his brothers and their home. Toby is Nuki’s little side-kick and will follow his brother wherever he goes. Despareaux is the smallest (by just a hair) and is definitely the most gentle of the three. He’s never quite right behind his two bigger brothers, but prefers to hang back and say ‘hello’ to his human once in a while.
Nuki had a small, benign tumor removed from his neck in late 2014. Despareaux has a small spot of Melanoma on his left hip that has been removed as of early 2015. These very special boys are looking for a experienced home who will respect their needs and love them for the way they are.
To learn more about these brothers, please feel free to contact us. As of April 2015, these brothers are about 1.5 years old.
