Pebbles & Nori

Pebbles & Nori

*** In order to adopt, you must be an existing client of a vet clinic that sees rats or have been accepted as a new client at a clinic that sees rats ***

Meet sisters, Pebbles & Nori. Their mother was originally purchased from Pets World to feed a snake. Luckily, the snake wasn’t feeling hungry and a kind lady offered to take in the mom rat. What she didn’t know was that the mom rat was pregnant, and she gave birth to 8 babies on April 1, 2022, including Pebbles and Nori.

These babies have been handled since the day they were born, and you can tell they were showered with love. Pebbles and Nori are incredibly sweet, lovely to handle, and are perfect little beings who just need a loving forever home and a family to call their own.

Buddy (neutered) & Button

Buddy (neutered) & Button

*** In order to adopt, you must be an existing client of a vet clinic that sees rats or have been accepted as a new client at a clinic that sees rats ***

Half-brothers, Buddy and Button were originally from a rat breeder in Ottawa where they were going to be killed. You can read about their story here. Luckily, their former owner reached out to the Rescue and after a neuter and several weeks of socialization, Buddy & Button are now ready to find their forever home.

Button is estimated to be approximately 11 months old, while Buddy is 3 months younger. Of the two, Button is the leader, the adventurer and the super outgoing one. He’s always eager to greet new people and is completely fine with being held and handled. Funny enough, when he’s had enough, he’s usually the first to squeak in protest.

Buddy has come a long way and is now finally comfortable with being pet and handled. He still doesn’t enjoy it the same way Button does, but he’s no longer fearful and in fact will now run towards his foster mom instead of away from her during playtime.

Because of the multiple homes Buddy and Button have already been through, we really hope to find them a loving forever home with someone who has the time and the experience to give these boys the love they deserve.

Buddy & Button soaking in some love.

Linda & Dolly

Linda & Dolly

*** In order to adopt, you must be an existing client of a vet clinic that sees rats or have been accepted as a new client at a clinic that sees rats ***

This pair of adorable sisters are ready to win over your heart.

Linda & Dolly are estimated to be born late November of 2021. Of the two, Linda (black and white) is more outgoing (and some may say) a little bit bonkers, while Dolly (white) is just as friendly and sociable, but she actually stays still (sometimes). Both girls will perk up immediately when you enter a room, and they’ll follow you around no matter where you go like tiny puppies. They are literally the most perfectly adorable and well-behaved companions anyone could hope for.

If you believe you can offer these two girls a loving forever home and a second chance, please fill out an adoption application form.

Patti & Emmylou

Patti & Emmylou

*** In order to adopt, you must be an existing client of a vet clinic that sees rats or have been accepted as a new client at a clinic that sees rats ***

This adorable mother/daughter pair are ready to win over your heart.

Patti, the mom is estimated to be born in July of 2021, while her daughter, Emmylou was born in later November of 2021. Both girls are sweet, dainty and just need a bit of time to come out of their shells. Patti, the mom is especially active and adventurous and would love nothing more than a large enclosure and lots of time outside the cage to explore and climb things.

We would strongly prefer if Patti could also be adopted with her two other daughters, Linda and Dolly.

If you believe you can offer a loving home to these sweet girls who need a second chance, please fill out an adoption application form.

Miso (neutered) & Tako (neutered)

Miso (neutered) & Tako (neutered)

*** In order to adopt, you must be an existing client of a vet clinic that sees rats or have been accepted as a new client at a clinic that sees rats ***

Brothers Miso & Tako were surrendered to the rescue as day-old babies in March of 2021. They were quickly adopted and until recently, have been spoiled and lived a rather wonderful life. Unfortunately, Miso became hormonal aggressive and their adopters decided that they could not handle this new development and did not want to go through the neuter, so they were returned to the Rescue.

We promptly got Miso neutered, and he’s back to being a sweet, fun-loving and wonderful boy. Of the two, Miso is definitely more of a cuddler and loves to give you little licks and kisses. Tako is bigger, more active, and in terms of personality, is a little more adventurous and food motivated. Both of them love people and run up to you as soon as you call for them. They are also almost 100% with their litter box!

They are not picky at all about their veggies and will happily accept all healthy treats. Their favourites though are definitely banana, edamame and grapes.

If you are interested in these two sweet, perfect boys who need a third chance at finding their forever home, please fill out an adoption application form.

Beatrix & Nora

Beatrix & Nora

*** In order to adopt, you must be an existing client of a vet clinic that sees rats or have been accepted as a new client at a clinic that sees rats ***

Beatrix & Nora have not had an easy life so far. We estimate that they were born November of 2021 and are most likely sisters. On one of the coldest days of winter, they were found in a taped up box on the side of the road in Napanee, ON. Luckily, a kind human found them and brought them to the Rescue.

Unluckily for us, they were in that box with a male and were both pregnant. Beatrix gave birth on Feb. 11, 2022 while Pip gave birth on Feb. 3, 2022. Understandably, both of them arrived at the Rescue extremely timid and shy. Beatrix especially had a nipping problem, but this was mainly due to her strong instincts to protect her babies.

Now that all of the babies have been weaned, and Beatrix and Nora have spent close to a month with a loving foster, both of them have had a complete change in personality.

Nora especially is now completely careful and such a joy to be around. She loves to be picked up and is always begging to come out and ride around on your shoulders. You would never guess based on her behaviour that she was ever tossed out in a box!

Beatrix meanwhile has also made huge progress, and while she’s still a little bit timid around strangers, it doesn’t take her long to warm up to you and climb into your lap. Both girls are definitely ready for their forever home!

Beatrix and Nora can be adopted with their friends/sisters, Pip & Lexi.

Oliver & Eli

Oliver & Eli

*** In order to adopt, you must be an existing client of a vet clinic that sees rats or have been accepted as a new client at a clinic that sees rats ***

Oliver & Eli were born in April of 2021. They were initially purchased as pets for some children who unfortunately lost interested. A couple took them in thinking they could give them the care they needed, unfortunately they also ended up not being able to keep these boys.

Finally, they’ve landed with the Rescue where hopefully, third time is the charm. These boys are perfectly friendly and sociable, and as you can tell from the photos, tightly bonded. Of the two, Eli (the blue/grey one) is slightly more adventurous and brave, while Oliver (white) is a little calmer and follows his brother’s lead.

These two make a wonderful pair and would make perfect family companions as they are used to children, and previously lived with dogs and cats.

To apply to adopt Oliver & Eli, please fill out an adoption application form.

Quincy, Arrow & Dexter

Quincy, Arrow & Dexter

*** In order to adopt, you must be an existing client of a vet clinic that sees rats or have been accepted as a new client at a clinic that sees rats ***

Update March 25, 2022: Arrow will be neutered to help curb some bully behaviour towards his brothers.

This perfect trio of sweet boys are ready to give you kisses and put smiles on your face. Born in April of 2021, these boys were surrendered to the Rescue after the children of their previous family lost interest. They have blossomed into wonderful, sweet boys after just a few weeks in foster care.

These three boys are tightly bonded and must be adopted together.

Here are a few words from their foster mom:
“Both Dexter and Arrow LOVE human attention. Dexter will actually climb out on to me now when I open the cage. Quincy is so soft and so sweet and he is good with people, just not as excitable as his brothers”.

To apply, please fill out an adoption application form.

Benji & Rick (neutered)

Benji & Rick (neutered)

Benji and Rick are both estimated to be around 8 months old as of December 2021, and both were surrendered by their previous families who could not keep them for various reasons.

Poor Benji is a sweet, but shy boy who lost his brother to an unknown illness and his previous human felt like he was simply lonely and deserved new rat friends.

Rick on the other hand, was surrendered because he was a huge bully who was beating up his cage-mates. His previous owner unfortunately could not afford the neuter that would have resolved all of Rick’s hormonal issues, so we agreed to take him in and got him that neuter instead. Luckily Rick turned out to be the most sweet, puppy-like boy you’ll ever meet! He loves people, he loves interacting with people, and he’s so sweet with humans. That fact has not changed even after his surgery.

After a slow and steady introduction, Benji and Rick are now living together peacefully. Despite being the one who’s neutered, Rick is still the boss! And Benji is still shy and nervous.

These two are looking for a home together with someone who will give Benji the extra attention he needs to come out of his shell, even though Rick will probably try to hog all of your love and all the treats!

Please note, their adoption fee (total) is $80. To inquire about adopting these boys, please fill out our Adoption Application form.

Prim & Rosey

Prim & Rosey

Prim & Rosey are estimated to be one year old. They came from a family who purchased them from a breeder on Kijiji, but then decided they could no longer keep them. Both girls arrived with mild respiratory infection, but were otherwise friendly and well-socialized.

After 3 weeks of antibiotics and a clear environment, they are now ready for their forever home.

Of the two, Prim is much more outgoing, while Rosey is a little bit more shy and will need some convincing before she agrees to be your best friend.

To adopt Prim & Rosey, please fill out an adoption application form.
