Wilma

Wilma was a sweet old girl who was part of the Mascouche breeder surrender. She was aged and came to the rescue with a large tumour and a respiratory infection. Despite rounds of antibiotics (she was too ill to undergo surgery to have the tumour removed), she eventually passed away and joined so many other friends across the rainbow bridge. We are happy, however, that in her last weeks of life she was able to know so much love and care.

Cleo

Cleo was one of 6 rats we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to rescue from a Gatineau pound who was not properly set up to care for rats. She has since blossomed into one of the alpha rats at her adoptive mom Karen's home and is soaking in all the love and attention a rat could ask for along with her two other cage mates.

Ivy & Rue

Sweet Ivy & Rue are a mother and daughter pair originally rescued from the Valleyfields SPCA. They are now living comfortably together with a family of animal-loving vets! These sweet girls are still a bit scared and unsure about people and our hands, but their new family will love them and work with them. Hooray for wonderful families!

Elly & Ingrid

It can be said that Elly (left) & Ingrid were a pair made in rattie heaven. Both of these older girls had lost their previous cage-mates and were lonely. They accepted each other almost immediately and now live in a spacial Critter Nation together. Their mom is a loving parent who not only dotes on them, but will go the extra mile to make sure her girls are healthy and happy. Elly was definitely one of the lucky ones - she lived to a ripe old age of 3.5 years!

Peanut & Reiki

Q-Tip ("Q" for short) is the beautiful black dumbo girl who unfortunately lost her sister. Her human parents were concerned with her advancing age and her lack of friends. They adopted Peanut and Reiki, two beautiful beige baby girls who took to Q almost immediately. Now all three girls can be found spending relaxing days in their massive playground and doing naughty things to keep their humans amused.

Scabbers, Pinky & Sandy

Scabbers, Pinky and Sandy have joined Stevie, an elder girl who was previously adopted from the Rescue. Having recently lost her sister, Stevie was in need of friends and her human mom was more than happy to welcome three more girls into their beautiful rat-family. Thank you Sarah for being a wonderful caring person and for again adopting and helping us save lives!

Jitterbug & Tundra

Jitterbug was rescued along with her friend Tundra. They were being used as part of a small animal zoo but they were surrendered because we were told that Jitterbug bites. Of course she hasn't bitten anyone since we met her. She was stressed and unhappy from being taken from place to place, handled by many strangers, and living in a room with other zoo creatures including reptiles. Now she and Tundra enjoy a wonderful life with other ratty roomates and lots of out time where it's safe.

May

Little May was named after the month she was found. Believe it or not, she was found in a small cardboard box in a Tim Horton's parking lot. An employee at Tim Horton's went out for a break, and noticed the box sitting out back. We're so glad she looked inside! May now lives with other ratty friends and still has a bit of a wild girl attitude.

Auntie Freida & Baby Cleo

Freida was an abandoned ratty, dumped outdoors near some cottages. Luckily for her, she found her way into a cottage owned by caring people. They fed her, got a cage, and brought her to us. She is a real sweetie, gentle and always on the go. She's not even afraid of the resident cat, Jasper, who she chases around the house. She lives with baby Cleo, a rescue from the Ottawa Humane Society. Cleo was surrendered, along with her mom and siblings, and now she is great buddies with her Auntie Freida!
