These lovely ladies are from one of the two resulting litters from the Mascouche Breeder. They lived the first six weeks of their lives at the rescue and are extremely playful and cuddly.

Dixie & Anna
These two girls came to us from a breeder in Mascouche who had been reported and was getting rid of his animals. Both came pregnant and very unsure about humans, hands, and everything else. In the past month Anna has been spayed; Dixie has given birth to a litter of 6, which she is currently nursing; and both girls have learned that humans can bring love, warmth, and of course treats. Dixie will need to stay at the rescue until her babies have been fully weaned so that they get the best start at...

Minuit
This lovely lady is from one of the two resulting litters from the Mascouche Breeder. She lived the first six weeks of her life at the rescue and was extremely playful and cuddly. A gorgeous black and white dumbo, we're so happy she has found a loving forever home that can give her tons of love and cuddles. She will be joining a lovely rat named Bisous who recently lost a cage mate. We're so excited that this adoption ended in happy endings for not one, but two rats!

Cassy & Jezzabell
These two darlings came to us from a horrible breeding situation in Mascouche, but you wouldn't know it. Cassy is a firecracker of energy and loves exploring, but will come back for a cuddle to make sure you're still there. Jezzabell is a little shy, but once she feels safe will settle down on your chest for cuddles and love. Both girls are an estimated 4 month old as of August 2014. These two gorgeous girls were adopted and are off to their new home in Kingston with Ashley! We're super thrilled...

Caleese
This little darling came to us from an intake pound called Auberg Zen in Laval QC. They give them 30 days at the pound. If they are not picked up by an adopter or another shelter, they are euthanized... She is so friendly, energetic, and brave! She loves exploring and getting into mischief - as well as visiting all the other rats in the rescue. She is also here to stay - she's managed to wriggle her cute little face deep into Rachel's heart, so has been given her forever home permanently with Ra...

Wilma
Wilma was a sweet old girl who was part of the Mascouche breeder surrender. She was aged and came to the rescue with a large tumour and a respiratory infection. Despite rounds of antibiotics (she was too ill to undergo surgery to have the tumour removed), she eventually passed away and joined so many other friends across the rainbow bridge. We are happy, however, that in her last weeks of life she was able to know so much love and care.

Cleo
Cleo was one of 6 rats we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to rescue from a Gatineau pound who was not properly set up to care for rats. She has since blossomed into one of the alpha rats at her adoptive mom Karen's home and is soaking in all the love and attention a rat could ask for along with her two other cage mates.

Angel
Angel was part of the Masouche breeder rescue. Extremely timid and afraid of hands at first, with lots of time, patience, and love from her adoptive mother, Karen, she has begun to come out of her shell and start to soak in all the love that's being showered on her. She is now living with 4 other rats and is doing extremely well.

Ivy & Rue
Sweet Ivy & Rue are a mother and daughter pair originally rescued from the Valleyfields SPCA. They are now living comfortably together with a family of animal-loving vets! These sweet girls are still a bit scared and unsure about people and our hands, but their new family will love them and work with them. Hooray for wonderful families!

Elly & Ingrid
It can be said that Elly (left) & Ingrid were a pair made in rattie heaven. Both of these older girls had lost their previous cage-mates and were lonely. They accepted each other almost immediately and now live in a spacial Critter Nation together. Their mom is a loving parent who not only dotes on them, but will go the extra mile to make sure her girls are healthy and happy. Elly was definitely one of the lucky ones - she lived to a ripe old age of 3.5 years!

Peanut & Reiki
Q-Tip ("Q" for short) is the beautiful black dumbo girl who unfortunately lost her sister. Her human parents were concerned with her advancing age and her lack of friends. They adopted Peanut and Reiki, two beautiful beige baby girls who took to Q almost immediately. Now all three girls can be found spending relaxing days in their massive playground and doing naughty things to keep their humans amused.

Scabbers, Pinky & Sandy
Scabbers, Pinky and Sandy have joined Stevie, an elder girl who was previously adopted from the Rescue. Having recently lost her sister, Stevie was in need of friends and her human mom was more than happy to welcome three more girls into their beautiful rat-family. Thank you Sarah for being a wonderful caring person and for again adopting and helping us save lives!

Jitterbug & Tundra
Jitterbug was rescued along with her friend Tundra. They were being used as part of a small animal zoo but they were surrendered because we were told that Jitterbug bites. Of course she hasn't bitten anyone since we met her. She was stressed and unhappy from being taken from place to place, handled by many strangers, and living in a room with other zoo creatures including reptiles. Now she and Tundra enjoy a wonderful life with other ratty roomates and lots of out time where it's safe.

May
Little May was named after the month she was found. Believe it or not, she was found in a small cardboard box in a Tim Horton's parking lot. An employee at Tim Horton's went out for a break, and noticed the box sitting out back. We're so glad she looked inside! May now lives with other ratty friends and still has a bit of a wild girl attitude.

Auntie Freida & Baby Cleo
Freida was an abandoned ratty, dumped outdoors near some cottages. Luckily for her, she found her way into a cottage owned by caring people. They fed her, got a cage, and brought her to us. She is a real sweetie, gentle and always on the go. She's not even afraid of the resident cat, Jasper, who she chases around the house. She lives with baby Cleo, a rescue from the Ottawa Humane Society. Cleo was surrendered, along with her mom and siblings, and now she is great buddies with her Auntie Freida!
